In February of 2010, Robert Cringely announced that, with help from the Kauffman Foundation, he would be launching a contest to find the top startups outside of Silicon Valley.
“...Companies less than five years old generated nearly two-thirds of the new jobs created in the U. S. in 2007…American technology startups change the world all the time and are this country’s primary global advantage…”

Between now and June, Cringely is inviting readers to nominate startup companies in six general categories. As a community, readers will examine and discuss these nominated companies. Through voting, Cringely will showcase the top 24 in June, by setting off in his RV to visit all 24. He will spend a couple days with each startup, learn about the company, the people, their technology and their market. A camera crew will document the entire journey to produce what will become a 13-part TV reality series.

"I wanted my 500,000 readers to nominate hundreds of startup companies then discuss and rate them. There simply was no system to do that. Then I found Collaborize, which has been a delight. The service is reliable, priced fairly, and does exactly what I need."
